A Merry WarAlso known as Keep the Aspidistra Flying , from the novel by George Orwell on which it is based. This is the story of an idealistic young wanna-be poet, who dreams of emulating the greats of English literature. He quits he well paying job in an ad agency, to make his way writing poetry. Needless to say, this plan is not a roaring success, and he drifts lower down the social scale, losing his friends and wanna-be lover along the way, while berating the evil of money. But the young lady persists, and uses the oldest trick in the book to bring him to his senses, and back to the staid, safe, conventional middle-class existence. And they all lived happily after. (Really.)This is a charming and witty comedy for the art circuit.

Bruce Humphrey: "Doesn't the world have enough poetry?" "When you lie in the gutter you have nowhere to fall!" "Phew! - What's that smell? - is it you?" "I shall have a bath on my birthday" Very much a Dickens type of story that does a full circle. Light-hearted drama/romantic entertainment with humour.
