Iris Blond

Romeo is a pop musician of declining fortune; he's had a brief period of popularity in the seventies, but that's about all. If life wasn't bad enough, his girlfriend leaves him for the drummer of his band.
The scorching disappointment leads him to take on a job as a singer on board a cruise ship. Before he sets sail, a Neapolitan fortune teller predicts he'll meet a foreign woman who has the name of a flower; who speaks in verse and who will change his life with wealth and love.
On the ship, Romeo meets Marguerite, a good-looking Belgian woman in her early fifties who sings Jacques Brel repertoire - the prophecy is furfilled! He goes to live with her in Brussels, where they work together as a duo in a moldy club patronized by an inevitably aged clientele.
Romeo and Marguerite's love begins to fade, the two simply have little in common.
One evening, starving because of the strict diet that Marguerite subjects him to, Romeo sneaks into a diner where he chats up one of the waitresses: a pretty girl of Italian origin. Her name is Iris.
Dazzled by her floricultural name, Romeo discovers that Iris, in her free time, sings in a choir and writes verse as a hobby; the prophecy pops up again.
Romeo is very attracted by Iris and fascinated by her candid exuberance. She is an insecure creature when dealing with major life issues, but quite determined in daily practical matters. Romeo proposes setting music to her verses.
After a positive outcome in the recording studio, they are offered work. They call themselves ''Iris Blond and the Freezer.'' The musical partnership, with its highs and lows, soon envolves into a romantic relationship. Romeo falls ''madly'' in love with Iris. She, however, isn't sure she can reciprocate. And when she is offered an opportunity to advance her musical profession, Iris will be forced to choose between Romeo and her career.
