The Inheritors After a local farmer is murdered, his fellow landholders are horrified to discover that he has thrown "the natural order of things" dangerously out of order by leaving his entire estate to his servants -- a group of uneducated peasants, so ground down by hard work that they initially seem like nothing more than glorified barnyard animals. The "animals" however, have other ideas. Urged on by a fiery single mother, they elect an amiably stupid farmhand as their de facto leader and set about cultivating the farm, which they now consider their legitimate property. Ian Douglas: Interesting depiction of class struggle, what happens when some peasants are suddenly elevated to the level of the gentry. The film never reaches any great dramatic heights, merely meandering along to it's inevitable conclusion. It should appeal to an older audience. The parallels to the SA situation are interesting.
