Ride With the Devil A slice-of-life look at life in the "irregulars", men who took part in the US Civil war without officially joining the army. Instead they operated as loosly-formed groups of guerrillas in civilian clothes, killing everyone they thought was an enemy. The plotline basically has one of them ending up taking care of the lover and daughter of his best friend, while trying to stay alive. 138 minutes, No persons under 16 (Violence). Ian Douglas: The book origins of the film show clearly, as the story probably worked Okay on paper, but on film it just meanders along from one incident to the next, with nothing driving the characters. They seem to accept that their side will lose the war, but still they think it is right to go and kill other people who happen to live on the wrong side of an imaginary line. The hero shows remarkably little backbone when forced to do something lifechanging, against his will.
