This film takes a look at the last seven years of the famous American poetess, Sylvia Plath. After arriving in England, she meets and marries another poet. As the years go by, his talents surpass hers, and to make matters worse, he has an affair, eventually leaving her and the two young children. Depressed, she makes her own exit.
