Fred Claus

Everybody has that one relative who can't help but cause problems over the holidays. Even Santa.

Fred Claus
Santa Claus has an older brother, Fred. Fred is bitter of Santa's saintly nature and world-wide reknown. One day, Fred urgently needs US$50k, and in desperation, decides to ask Santa to help him out. Santa agrees, but Fred has to come to the North Pole, and work for the money. Fred is not actually a very capable worker. To make matters worse, there is a cold-hearted efficiency expert visiting at the same time, and he's determined to shut down Santa's operation. Expect the usual kiddie-friendly humour.

Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconThe movie wants to be good-hearted but is somehow sort of grudging.
10
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconThe movie doesn't aim very high, preferring obvious jokes and pratfalls to anything that might require more effort.
10
ScreenIt
quote iconHampered by a lame script that offers few if any surprises or novelty, the cast members simply go through the motions. As a result, neither they nor the crew manage to generate the magic needed to make a genre flick like this deliver the goods.
