Crossing Over

Every day thousands of people illegally cross our borders... only one thing stands in their way. America.

Crossing Over
This film takes a look at immigration into America, through the eyes of assorted wanna-be immigrants, and some immigration officials. The immigrants range from Mexican to Far Eastern via the Middle East, and each has their own motivation and problems associated with getting to America. Roger Ebert quote iconIf you're looking for plausibility and resist manipulation, you'll object to it. But sometimes movies are intriguing, despite their faults, and you want to keep on watching. This one is like that.
13
eye Weekly
Adam Nayman quote iconKramer ostensibly has good intentions: to expose and indict the inequities of America’s immigration policy. But his socially conscious ambitions consistently bump up against his barn-side broad dramatic instincts.

Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote icon. I'm sure Kramer will be picked to pieces for trying something while Hollywood crap climbs the box-office ladder. There are all kinds of nightmares.

ScreenIt
C. Fuchs quote iconNot horrible (and featuring generally decent performances in underwritten roles) but clearly not as profound or insightful as it obviously intends to be.

Tomatometer quote icon Crossing Over is flagrant and heavy-handed about a situation that deserves more deliberate treatment, and joins its characters with coincidences that strain believability.
