Shrek Forever After

The Final Chapter

Shrek Forever After
Shrek has settled down to married life with Fiona. The triplets are a year old now, and life has become a boring routine. Rumpelstilskin offers Shrek some hope: a return to his carefree days, in return for one day of Shrek's life. Unfortunately Rumpelstilskin picks the day Shrek was born, meaning he does not exist, and no one knows him. With only one day to get a kiss from Fiona to break the spell, Shrek has his work cut out convincing his friends that they are his friends. James Berardinelli quote iconAlthough Shrek Forever After is not as funny or as impudent is its great-grandparent, some of its comedic jabs land solid blows to the funny bone.

Peter Travers quote iconIn the fourth and final chapter, the animated Shrek series recovers the sense of mischief it lost in Shrek the Third.

ScreenIt
C. Fuchs quote icon I'm sure it will make beaucoup bucks, but just as is the case in the film where people try to pass off others as the real Shrek in order to win a handsome award, this one feels like an imitator as well.

Tomatometer quote iconWhile not without its moments, Shrek Forever After too often feels like a rote rehashing of the franchise's earlier entries.
