Let Me In

Innocence dies. Abby doesn't.

Let Me In
This award-winning movie is a Hollywood remake of an award-winning Swedish movie, and for once, Hollywood didn't mess up the adaptation. Set back in the 1980s, a young boy is having trouble with some bullies at school. He is very lonely, and is relieved when a girl his age moves in next door. However she is reluctant to get to close to him, and he observes some rather strange things about her. It turns out that she has been twelve years old for a long time, and her lust for human blood will be used to his advantage. The film is more about childhood and friendship and family than about vampires, so don't expect anything along the lines of Twilight.

Jason Anderson quote iconThe problem is that Reeves hasn’t done much more than work a familiarly moody groove.

ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconLet Me In represents one of the best and most brutal vampire movies to come along in a while and, despite presenting a romance of sorts between a human boy and a vampire girl, it will not remind many viewers of Twilight. In fact, Let Me In is about as far away from Twilight as one can get, and that's a good thing.

Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconPrepare to be wowed. It's a spellbinder.

C. Fuchs quote iconI'm happy to report that the offering isn't just an exceptional film about vampires, but it's also a terrific one about childhood in terms of friends, enemies (e.g. bullies), family life and kids feeling like they'll be trapped forever in whatever unhappy situation in which they currently find themselves. Yes, the themes run deep in this film right alongside the horror and suspense and the result is one of the best entries of its genre.
