The Intouchables

Sometimes you have to reach into someone else's world to find out what's missing in your own.

The Intouchables
This French film has made a whack of money globally, as well as winning a string of awards. In some ways a take on 'Driving Miss Daisy', it revolves around a wealthy disabled man, who hires an ex-con as his personal assistant. Their bond proves the power and omniscience that love and friendship can hold over all social and economic differences.

What the Critics say

Cape Argus / The Star
Michael O'Sullivan quote iconFeel-good film on feel-bad bane.
10
Die Burger
Laetitia Pople quote iconLewensvreugde oorwin als in dié Franse lekkerte.
15
Box Office
Sara Maria Vizcarrondo quote iconWhat it provides (instead of the thematically clever dialogue of typically subtle French comedy) is biting wit, poignancy and, forsaking some structural nuisances, the summer's best bromance.
13
Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconThis is a story that has been told time and again in the movies, and sometimes the performances overcome the condescension of the formula.
13
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconMost (summer) releases are about action and special effects; The Intouchables is a notable exception and well worth seeing for that reason alone.
18
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconA tasty bonbon spiked with mirth but light on malice.

Tomatometer quote iconIt handles its potentially prickly subject matter with kid gloves, but Intouchables gets by thanks to its strong cast and some remarkably sensitive direction.
