The Birth of a Nation

Set in the American South, we follow a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner accepts an offer to use the slave’s preaching to subdue other unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities, against himself and his fellow slaves, the preacher orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom. The film has won several awards and nominations.
