The Big Sick

An Awkward True Story.

The Big Sick
This Judd Apatow production is based on the real-life courtship between an aspiring Pakistani comedian and an American grad student. They hook up after one of his performances, and what was going to be just a one-night stand blossoms into the real thing. However his traditional Muslim parents have other ideas for their son, which don’t include his girlfriend. When the woman contracts a mystery illness, it forces her boyfriend to navigate the medical crisis with her parents who he’s never met, while dealing with the emotional tug-of-war between his family and his heart.
