The Land Girls

The Land Girls In 1941, World War II continues to rage. The young men of England have been called to the front to fight. So, back at home, a new regiment is formed. The soldiers? The Woman's Land Army, or 'the land girls', young woman of England who are dispatched across the countyside to pick up the slack and, quite literally, pitch in.

Answering the call, three beautiful young woman from very different backgrounds arrive at a very remote farm in glorious rural Dorset. Stella is a principled romantic whose fiancé is serving as a naval officer. Ag is a quirky and celebral Cambridge graduate, with little experience of the world. Prue is a working-class hairdresser, a flirt whose wit conceals her innocence.

The farm is owned by the Lawrences, whose handsome, volatile son Joe has one wish, to leave the family farm to become a fighter pilot. For the woman, the work is hard. The days are long, and the war is never far from their thoughts. But the women's camaraderie strengthens them, individually and as a unit. They form close friendships with each other, and with Joe...who comes to care deeply about one of them. All experience exhiliration, passion, tragedy, and with the war's close, altered destinies.
