The Fifth Element

A sci-fi yarn set in the 23th century. Our hero, a cab diver, has to save earth from invaders from outer space who come this way every 5000 years. The invaders consist of anti-life - the fifth element - and our hero has to help a young (actually very old) woman combine the four basic elements - earth, air, fire, water - together to release their power and combat the fifth element.

If this sounds confusing it is because the director came up with the story when he was 16 years old. The film has good music and special effects, but is somewhat over the top in places.

127 minutes.
