Caprice's D'un Fleuve

This is a sprawling French melodrama set in 1787. A nobleman is banished to the African colony of Cap St Louis after killing the king's friend in a duel. In this exotic setting he falls for the local temptress and adopts a young slave as his daughter. Expect lots of sex with the natives, paternalistic colonial attitudes, and exotic fetishism meeting patronising history.
