The Moviesite Fan Club comments
Bruce Humphrey: As the write-up says, the story has a black drag queen, an old man who walks an imaginary dog and a faggot murder case (court case and all). A long movie that is well done. Not the kind of movie I normally associate with producer Clint Eastwood. Not for prudes else if you are broadminded, go and see it!

Candice Stewart: Brilliant!!

Saeed Subailey: Pretty Kewl! I regret not going to the toilet before the movie though.

Robert Haynes: Stunning...stunning film...Whew talk about a change of pace for Mr Eastwood. This entire film is shrouded in an almost dreamlike quality that captures perfectly the repressive nature of the American South. Cusack delivers a solid performance, but it The Lady Chablis, a vociferous sparkling drag queen that steals every scene she is in...Spacey is also yet again sublime...Wow Clint if this is the kind of movie you're gonna be making in the future...you sure as hell got my devoted attention...Do yourself a favour though, pop off to the loo before the main feature starts...Run before this gem slips off circuit. I'm glad I caught it just in time.

Ronald Smart: This was a book which really made your imagination do some work to picture the people and town of Savannah. I also couldn't see it being made into a good movie either. Wrong!! Clint Eastwood really got this one right. If you've read the book and don't think the movie will be for you just see it. It may not be the way you imagined but I'll bet it is every bit as good. Great entertainment.
