Runaway Bride

Does it seem as though I'm on the run? A New York newspaper columnist has a problem - his deadline is an hour away and he needs to come up with a story. Retreating to his favorite bar to "brainstorm", he hears about a young woman in rural Maryland who, apparently, loves being engaged, but who has very cold feet about getting married. Intrigued, he composes a column about her.
He eventually discovers there is much more to her than just a problem with commitment; and he ends up with the story of a lifetime.

116 minutes, All ages.
Comedy, Romance.

The Moviesite Fan Club comments

Ian Douglas: The problem with this movie is that it comes so soon after the blockbuster Notting Hill, which also stars Roberts, and thus it is inevitable that the two films will be compared. Unfortunately this film does not match up to the other, although it does have a certain charm of its own, and a speech which saves it.

Nicole Soares (18): A god given. And it's about time too.

Shaun Myburg (21): I have heard many people say that this film is no "Pretty Woman"...but I say why does it have to be? Although it reunites Gere, Roberts, Marshall and a lot of the original cast, it is highly entertaining movie. The team seems to just have that chemistry that works. Add to this, a guarenteed comedic turn by Joan Cusack and you got yourself a winner. I enjoyed this movie very much although it is your typical Julia Roberts fare, which I guess isn't that bad as long as you are a fan, which thankfully I am. Perfect date movie.

Vicki Venter (35): Good, lighthearted comedy, but not much substance. If you want to relax without taxing the brain cells, this ones for you.

Marli de Klerk (17): Julia Roberts and Richard Gere are a perfect couple for movies like this one.
