Bootmen

Set in an Australian working class environment, our hero is in a dead-end industrial job. His passion is tap dancing, and after blowing his first professional appearance, he decides to start his own troupe. Problem is, he has no money. The whole situation is complicated by his brother's illegal activities. Then the factory starts closing down, and the brothers decide to put on a benefit for the workers. The film is based on the true story of a famous Australian tap dancer, and features some great modern tap.

Ian Douglas: Aimed squarely at the teen market, it should be a hit. Nice to see tap dancing going in more creative directions than top hat and tails.
