Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Holiday time means an animated movie from Disney, and so we set off with a young man and a military-style crew of assorted weirdos, to find the fabled lost city of Atlantis. After an undersea trip (with homage to Aladdin's carpet ride in the volcano) they eventually discover the lost city. However, all is not well with the community here...

Ian Douglas: For a change, no singing and dancing. The film features lush scenery, which makes the traditional-style characters look out of place. At least there is a decent storyline and no overbearing ''clown'' character. Throw in the usual romance and some good jokes and you have one of Disney's better recent releases.
