Carmen in Khayelitsha


The film version of the smash stage musical, which translates Bizet's opera Carmen into Xhosa, and moves the action to Khayelitsha township. The heroine, Carmen, is a loving woman who leads an innocent police officer down one wrong path after the other until desperate action becomes necessary. The film won the Golden Bear in Berlin. In Xhosa language with English subtitles.
