The Black Dahlia

The Black Dahlia was the title given to a murdered wanna-be actress back in the 1940s. The murder was never solved, but powerful people were implicated. This movie, based on a novel with the murder as starting point, follows two detectives determined to solve the case. Although the background is a murder mystery, the real story is about the one detective's unresolved romance with his partner's wife, as well as a femme fatale he meets during the investigation.
