Stay Alive

After a young man dies the same way as his character did in an unreleased video game, his pal inherits the game without knowing the full story. Soon he and a few friends find themselves tempted to play the game, and lo and behold, the body count starts rising as the players meet the same grisly ends as their on-screen counterparts. When the game takes on a life of its own, controlling the play, the surviving humans have to scramble to figure out a way of getting out alive. The media reviewers were uniformly unimpressed.
