Babel

This highly-decorated film has three storylines, examining the problems that an inability to communicate brings. In Morocco, an American tourist and his wife are victims of an accidental shooting, which opens physical and emotional wounds. Over in America, their nanny decides to take their kids to Mexico for a wedding, not thinking of the consequences. And in Japan, a deaf teenage girl exhibits increasingly provocative behaviour in a desperate attempt to be reach out and be noticed. Some reviewers objected to the numerous coincidences in the plot, leading to lower ratings.
