What the Critics say
Lael Loewenstein Earnest, well-acted drama
James Berardinelli Gracie is painless enough and, at times, even enjoyable. But it suffers from an overriding feeling that this would be better positioned as a made-for-TV feature.
The pic might have seemed better if so many other similar films hadn't already preceded it, but with the likes of Bend It Like Beckham also on the cinematic playing field, this one sort of disappears into the crowd.
Tomatometer Undone by its predictable story arc and lack of nuance.
