Atiyyah Khan quote iconA mercy killing would have been a kinder cut.

Cape Times
Jan Stuart quote iconExtremely painful to watch.
5
The Citizen
David Jenkin quote iconThe gore and the general discomfort of the idea will be the only thing this film will be remembered for.

24.com
Ashlin Simpson quote iconAwake is worth the watch, not brilliant, not piss-your-pants scary, but certainly very good.
10
BBC
Stella Papamichael quote iconAs thrillers go, this one shows few vital signs.
5
Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconDo not believe anything you hear about Awake, do not talk to anyone about it, and above all do not even glance at the poster or ads, which criminally reveal a crucial plot twist. This movie, which was withheld from critics, and has scored a pitiful 13 percent on the Tomatometer from those few who were able to see it, is a surprisingly effective thriller.
15
eye Weekly
Adam Nayman quote iconThere’s something to be said for silliness played straight, and writer-director Joby Harold’s debut Awake is a semi-marvel of poker-faced ridiculousness.
10
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconIt's not a good movie but it's silly and lively enough to keep most viewers from dozing off, even if that might be a more profitable use of their time.
10
ScreenIt
quote iconYawn, I could barely stay wide-eyed and bushy-tailed as things progressively unfolded into nothing but a cinematic mess Without a heart of its own to make us care, this film is in serious need of a script transplant.
