eye Weekly
Jason Anderson quote iconLaboriously presented, overacted and bloated with self-importance, it's really just a rote revenge thriller with pretensions.
1
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconAs adaptations go, Reservation Road is imperfect; as movies go, it is a flawed presentation of compelling material and intriguing characters.
13
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconEven the best actors -- and I'd rank Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffalo among their generation's finest -- can't save a movie that aims for tragedy but stalls at soap opera.
10
ScreenIt
C. Fuchs quote iconWhile it isn't exactly a dead end, Reservation Road is too bumpy and features too many switchbacks that ultimately don't make the trip within it any more interesting.

Tomatometer quote iconWhile the performances are fine, Reservation Road quickly adopts an excessively maudlin tone along with highly improbable plot turns.
