Doomsday

The End Is Nigh.

Doomsday
Set a few decades in the future, after a deadly virus infected Scotland. The Brits built a high wall to quarantine the whole of Scotland, and waited for the virus to take its toll. Now, 30 years later, the virus has surfaced in London, and remote cameras are showing activity in Glasgow. The Brits decide to send a crack team to investigate. Their mission: find a cure in Scotland within 48 hours. Once there, however, they find two armed factions fighting with each other, and now also with them. They've only got 48 hours to find the cure and get out ... alive.

Adam Nayman quote iconThe film looks cheap (not in an endearing way) and the action scenes are standard-issue quick-cut affairs — the final multi-car-pileup is strictly Mild Max.
5
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconTake Mad Max, add elements of Escape from New York and I am Legend, insert a kick-ass heroine to rival Sigourney Weaver or Linda Hamilton, and employ strobe-like editing for the action sequences, and you have a fair approximation of Doomsday.

Tomatometer quote iconDoomsday is a pale imitation of previous futuristic thrillers, minus the cohesive narrative and charismatic leads.
