Twilight

When you can live forever what do you live for?

Twilight
Based on a best-selling teen romance, this is about a teenage girl who leaves her mom and stepfather to move in with her police-chief dad in a small town. She attends the local high school which has the usual selection of clichéd characters, and is soon attracted to a broody goth. He too is immensely attracted to her... or rather to her blood, since he's a vampire. And so the dance begins, as she tries to get him to satisfy her, and he tries to keep his distance to prevent ending up satisfying himself. Reviewers were generally not in the target market and suggest that familiarity with the book would help follow the storyline and numerous characters.

Lisa Human quote iconthings improve in the second half: the story becomes a little more engaging, with rare moments revealing that Twilight did have potential somewhere... somehow.

The Citizen
Natalie Bosman quote iconIf I had to swallow a teen love story in any format, the vampire angle beats the likes of college road trips and sorority balls.

Shaheema Barodien quote iconWith such a beautiful cast and smoking hot love story, Twilight has hit movie written all over it. But all those good looks are only masking the mediocrity that lies beneath.

Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconTwilight will mesmerize its target audience, 16-year-old girls and their grandmothers. Their mothers know all too much about boys like this.

ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconThis is a Harlequin romance by way of Dark Shadows. If it was a little better made and more tightly plotted, it might satisfy the requirements of a guilty pleasure.

Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconBummer. The vampires have no fangs. The humans are humdrum. The special effects and makeup define cheeseball. But there’s a reason that Twilight has already become the movie equivalent of a bestseller: The love story has teeth.

ScreenIt
C. Fuchs quote iconAppropriately titled, Twilight is rather dim any way you cut (or bite) into it and thus rates as a 3 out of 10, mainly for being so bad it actually generates some unintentional laughs and brief moments of guilty pleasure.

Tomatometer quote iconHaving lost much of its bite transitioning to the big screen, Twilight will please its devoted fans, but do little for the uninitiated
