What the Critics say
|Cape Argus / The Star|
James O'Ehley The movie's saving grace is however its pitch black sense of humour.
Marco Cerritos Incompetent and cartoonish are the best words to describe Punisher: War Zone
|Chicago Sunday Times|
Roger Ebert The Punisher: War Zone is one of the best-made bad movies I've seen. It looks great, it hurtles through its paces and is well-acted. The soundtrack is like elevator music if the elevator were in a death plunge. The special effects are state of the art. Its only flaw is that it's disgusting.
Neil Karassik Punisher: War Zone takes the comic-book franchise’s depiction of graphic-violence-in-the-name-of-justice to depressingly low depths. And speaking of depth, between unrelenting moments of impossibly gory carnage (you can make a fatally dangerous drinking game out of the number of heads that explode and, yes, are even punched through), the film hardly contains a shred of narrative cohesion.
C. Fuchs An exercise in stoic mass killing, filled with mediocre to bad acting, awful dialogue and mishandled action scenes.
Tomatometer Punisher: War Zone recalls the excessively violent, dialogue-challenged actioners of the 1980s, and coincidentally feels two decades out of date.
