Punisher: War Zone

Vengeance has a name.

Punisher: War Zone
This episode of comic-book-hero The Punisher does not really pick up where the previous left off. The Punisher is now a vigilante, dispensing his brand of justice to all the baddies he can find. The cops are on his tail. They're also after some Russian baddies, who in turn are after The Punisher. As they all battle to come out on top, the body count rises dramatically. Expect lots of extremely gruesome violence. The critics were not impressed.

Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconThe Punisher: War Zone is one of the best-made bad movies I've seen. It looks great, it hurtles through its paces and is well-acted. The soundtrack is like elevator music if the elevator were in a death plunge. The special effects are state of the art. Its only flaw is that it's disgusting.
10
eye Weekly
Neil Karassik quote iconPunisher: War Zone takes the comic-book franchise’s depiction of graphic-violence-in-the-name-of-justice to depressingly low depths. And speaking of depth, between unrelenting moments of impossibly gory carnage (you can make a fatally dangerous drinking game out of the number of heads that explode and, yes, are even punched through), the film hardly contains a shred of narrative cohesion.
