Death at a Funeral

This is one sad family.

Death at a Funeral
A faithful American remake of the 2007 British original, with a mainly black American cast. The problems for this wacky family start when the undertaker delivers the wrong body to their house for the wake. Things get steadily worse and more bizarre from then on. Note that the film includes some gross toilet humour.

Pete Hammond quote iconThe remake doesn’t trump the original. Heck, it doesn’t even match it.

Roger Ebert quote iconAlthough it's almost a scene-by-scene remake of a 2007 British movie with the same title, it's funnier than the original.

Adam Nayman quote iconDeath at a Funeral 2.0 doesn’t improve on its source material: It’s a scene-for-scene, gag-for-gag Xerox

C. Fuchs quote iconEven if I had never seen the original, I doubt I would have found much of the offering as funny, let alone hilarious.

Tomatometer quote icon It's amusing and it assembles a talented cast, but Neil LaBute's surprisingly faithful remake of the 2007 Frank Oz dramedy ultimately falls short of the original.
