Red Riding Hood

Believe the legend. Beware the wolf.

Red Riding Hood
After her success with the Moonlight series, the director tries the same approach updating the classic fairytale for a generation of teens in love with hunky werewolves. The wolf from Little Red Riding Hood is now a werewolf, and our heroine is no longer Little, but fully grown and in love with a woodcutter (yes, THAT woodcutter). Problem is that mom and pop want to marry her off to another rich young man, as wooden as the woodcutter. The village has been plagued since time immemorial by a werewolf, and Red Riding Hood takes it upon herself to deal with this problem.

James Berardinelli quote iconThis is a beautifully wrapped box that contains only a tiny, forgettable trinket. Maybe the Twilight crowd will appreciate it (although I'm not sure about that), but it's hard to imagine anyone else being impressed.

ScreenIt
C. Fuchs quote iconUnless you can watch this with a verbally interactive theater audience or on some future installment of Mystery Science Theater 3000, you're going to be far better off going back and watching Bug Bunny and company show how to make a clever and entertaining version of an age-old fairy tale.
