The Adjustment Bureau

Fight for your fate.

The Adjustment Bureau
This convincing romance is set against a sci-fi background. A failed politician meets a young woman and they hit it off. They don't see each other again for three years, but this time around they set about building a relationship. Unfortunately, the hidden powers of the universe do not want this romance, and take active steps to prevent it happening. The lovers, however, desperately want each other and find themselves fighting powerful forces for the right to choose their own destinies. Although the film has strong sci-fi elements, it is more of a romantic thriller.

Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconThe Adjustment Bureau is a smart and good movie that could have been a great one if it had a little more daring.
15
eye Weekly
Jason Anderson quote iconDecades removed from the heyday of Bogart and Bacall, we’re forced to endure some pretty bland and unconvincing screen couples. But there’s hope—the stars of The Adjustment Bureau convey the essence of true romance
15
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconThe story toys with the concepts of free will and predestination - an argument that has befuddled religious scholars through the ages - but the filmmakers are believers in true love and, as a testimony to that philosophy, this movie needs no adjustment.
15
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconDespite heroic efforts by Damon and the lovely Blunt to build a plausible love story, the movie dissolves into silliness. What Dick rendered potent, Nolfi renders preposterous.
