Hugo (3D)

Hugo (3D)
Based on the best-selling book, Scorsese produces a movie unlike anything else he's ever made. The story focuses on a little boy who lives secretly in a train station in France. He keeps the various clocks and devices at the station running, steals food for a living, and is trying to repair a mechanical man his deceased father was building. He is caught by a local shopkeeper and made to work, where he meets a young girl and together they make some interesting discoveries. This film is releasing in both 2D and 3D, this is the 3D version. Note too that although the age restriction is family-friendly, younger viewers may be bored.

Pete Hammond quote iconHugo is not only a great family film—it is a great film, period. Magical and imaginative, this eye-popping masterpiece from director Martin Scorsese will transport audiences to a place they won't believe.
20
Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconHugo is unlike any other film Martin Scorsese has ever made, and yet possibly the closest to his heart: a big-budget, family epic in 3-D, and in some ways, a mirror of his own life.
20
ReelViews
James Berardinelli quote iconWith Hugo, Martin Scorsese has accomplished what few in Hollywood are willing to try: make a movie for adults that arrives without sex, violence, or profanity and earns a PG-rating. It's a fairy tale for mature viewers, but the airy exterior hides emotional depth.
18
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconHugo will take your breath away. It truly is the stuff that dreams are made of.

C. Fuchs quote iconWhile I'm not sure how I'd feel on a second pass of watching it (due to some fairly slow passages and some length that could have been truncated), the first time around is quite a charming, engaging and entertaining delight about movies of yesteryear and their effect on those who made and saw them.
