Lost in Our World. Found in Another.

John Carter
Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a sci-fi series set on Mars when he wasn't writing Tarzan yarns. With a plotline which probably inspired both Dances with Wolves and Avatar, our hero is an American Civil War veteran (Vietnam hadn't happened yet) who is accidentally transported to Mars, before it became the barren rock it now is. There he becomes involved in a war between the different tribes, using his amazing jumping and fighting skills to fight the evil invaders. This film is releasing in both 2D and 3D, this is the 2D version.
