What the Critics say
Kate Erbland Lawless is a minor classic in the making. But minor it will remain, as even with quality ingredients, the film never quite mixes together to deliver a potent brew.
|Chicago Sunday Times|
Roger Ebert Lawless is a well-made film about ignorant and violent people. Like the recent Killer Joe, I can only admire this film's craftsmanship and acting, and regret its failure to rise above them.
C. Fuchs Not as intoxicating as it likely could have been.
Tomatometer Grim, bloody, and utterly flawed, Lawless doesn't quite achieve the epic status it strains for, but it's too beautifully filmed and powerfully acted to dismiss.
