Youth

Youth
Two old friends are on holiday in a luxury Swiss Alps lodge as they ponder retirement. While the one has no plans to resume his musical career despite the urging of his loving daughter (and a request by the Queen), the other is intent on finishing the screenplay for what may be his last important film for his muse. And where will inspiration lead their younger friend, an actor grasping to make sense of his next performance? Set against a sprawling landscape of unforgettable sights and intoxicating music, this film asks if our most important and life-changing experiences can come at any time, even late, in life. Note that the USA rated this ’’R’’ i.e. over 16s only.

Jim Judy quote iconIf you like to be pretentious about pretentious things, this might be your cup of tea. But for everyone else and looking at this as a collective whole, the pic is a pretentious misfire that made me feel as if I had aged years rather than the two hours or so that had passed by.
