In this Disney sports (if chess is a sport) story, we follow a 10-year-old girl who lives in the slums in Uganda with her mom. Her world changes when she meets a missionary who teaches children how to play chess. She becomes fascinated with the game and soon becomes a top player under his guidance. Her success in local competitions and tournaments opens the door to a bright future and a golden chance to escape from a life of poverty. The film was partly shot in Johannesburg.
