What the Critics say
|Cape Argus / The Star|
Masego Panyane Second can follow the first 'Overboard'.
Lindsey Bahr With so many reboots and remakes and sequels out there, it's hardly productive to question why something got made anymore. Suffice it to say, you'd be safer to leave this one floating without a life jacket and just renting the '87 one again.
Jim Judy Likely to be little more than a blur in a few days and certainly all but forgotten when the next remake comes out in the late 2040s.
Tomatometer Overboard makes poor use of the ever-charming Anna Faris -- and chooses questionable source material -- to offer a remake that fails to clear the fairly low bar set by the original.

Jeffrey M. Anderson Lazy, insulting, gender-swapped remake just isn’t funny.
