The Sun Is Also a Star

Love is a Universe All of Its Own.

The Sun Is Also a Star
A college-bound romantic guy and a Jamaica-born pragmatist meet, and fall for each other, over one magical day amidst the fervour and flurry of New York City. Sparks immediately fly between these two strangers, who might never have met had fate not given them a little push. But will fate be enough to take these teens from star-crossed to lucky in love? With just hours left on the clock in what looks to be her last day in the U.S., the young woman is fighting against her family’s deportation as fiercely as she’s fighting her budding feelings for the student, who is working just as hard to convince her they are destined to be together.

What the Critics say

24.com
Graye Morkel quote iconThe flick gave me more “Neflix-movie” than big screen blockbuster, which by no means is an insult. That said, The Sun is Also a Star can also be praised, for under the fluffy parts there are some moments of realism, where the movie touches on serious issues such as cultural identity, and immigration laws.

Tomatometer quote iconThe Sun Is Also a Star has a pair of easy-to-love leads, but tests the audience’s affection with a storyline that strains credulity past the breaking point.

Jim Judy quote iconFeaturing winning performances, a good soundtrack, and some creative flashback moments explaining (via voice-over narration) family history and more, “The Sun is Also a Star” might not exactly be realistic, but it shines so brightly that you probably won’t care.
