Based on his experiences as a writer on Sid Caesar's landmark TV series ''Your Show of Shows'', ''Neil Simon's Laughter on the 23th Floor'' unfolds in New York City during the mid 1950s.Television has swept the nation, and Max Prince (Nathan Lane), a hugely talented but dangerously unpredictable funnyman, is its comedy king. Behind every king is his court, and Max's court is an eclectic group of hysterically funny writers. When they aren't arguing over sex, politics or whose turn it is to buy lunch, they produce the most original comedy on television.
