Arizona Territory, 1910. John Flinders (Caan), warden of Red Rock Prison, casts an eye on a new group of inmates. He's at once pleased and dismayed by what he sees: weathered, proud Michael Sullivan (Carradine), a friend from Flinder's days as an oulaw. The two men are headed for a dramatic manhunt and showdown in this compelling story of a changing West. The emerging West of motorcars and vanishing frontiers is new ground for Flinders.
So is the loving relationship he seeks with widow Maria McVale (Rachel Ticotin). But Sullivan knows ony one kind of West. And he's dead sure he can pull Flinders back into it by staging one last, murderous escape.
