At 1:10am on January 27, 1986, Megan Kalajzich was shot dead in her sleep.Was it possible that her husband, millionaire owner of the Manly Pacific International Hotel, the success story of Australia's Croatian community, friend of premiers and social commentators, could have arranged for his wife to be killed in their bed while he lay next to her? He and his family proudly proclaimed his innocence from the beginning. But Detective Sergeant Bob Inkster and his team knew from the onset of the investigation that it was a strong possibility.
Framed in the often wordless but desperate war of wills between Inkster and Kalajzich, a picture emerges of two men.
