Amélie Amélie is looking for love and perhaps the meaning of life in general. We see her grow up in an original, if slightly dysfunctional family. Now a waitress in central Paris, she interacts curiously with her neighbours and customers. Witness young Amélie's suicidal goldfish, her revenge on a nasty neighbour and her attempt at stealing her father's garden gnome.

She ponders her love interest Nino and why a scrap book full of discarded passport photos brings them together. Little by little, Amélie realises that the way to happiness requires her to take her own initiative and reach out to others. A romantic comedy... with a difference.
