Devdas

Devdas The film Devdas is a classic remake of a novel written by Sarat Chandra Cahttopadhye in 1917.

Devdas is the story of a young man who misinterprets love and life with tragic consequences. As a child, Devdas (Shahrukh Khan) is in love with Paro (Aishwarya Rai), but his mischievous ways upset his father and he gets sent away from his home and Paro, to London. Devdas grows up to become a strong man, and returns to get Paro's hand in marriage, but her parents have already betrothed her to another man.

When Devdas leaves for Calcutta, he develops a drinking habit and finds comfort in the arms of a courtesan by the name of Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit). Still in love with Paro, the two women find out about each other, but their devotion to Devdas and the roles that they play in each other's lives, forms the centre of this romantic tragedy.
