Keith Carradine is perfectly cast as a performer whose star is fading. His career is rejuvenated by performing a cabaret act. Unfortunately, this is Europe as the dawn of the second World War and the aging performer is now trapped between Nazis and Soviet forces.A relationship with a beautiful young girl (Mia Kirshner) who lives near the cabaret is sparked, but the two are only split apart by the fighting. Separated, the performer stops at nothing to be reunited with his love in an epic romantic conclusion. An outstanding supporting cast bring this tragic romance to life, including Brian Dennehy, Mercedes Ruehl, and Judd Hirsch.
