David Walsh (Matt Dillon), a handsome young bank executive, has gotten his life on track. Scarred, literally and figuratively, from a checkered past, he now has a good job at a bank and is engaged to a beautiful woman, Sara (Christina Applegate).David and Sara gather some friends at their Westside home to celebrate their impending wedding. But, Sara's not too pleased when David's best friend Jack (Steve Zahn) shows up. Jack thinks David's making a huge mistake settling down and marrying Sara.
After two years on the job, David is up for his first review, a hefty bonus and the title of Employee of the Month. To his surprise, he finds that not only hasn't he become Employee of the Month, but he's been fired! That's just the beginning of what will become the worst day of his life.
That night, David is supposed to meet Sara and her parents at a plush restaurant for dinner. When he arrives, he realises they've already eaten, and to his surprise, Sara tearfully confronts him with a woman's pair of underwear that she found in his suit pocket. David's caught... Sara calls off the wedding.
Now jobless and homeless, David heads to the bank with a gun. Ironically, he finds himself in the middle of someone else's hold up! Then in a series of twists, turns and betrayals, we realise things are not as they seem...
