Animal handler Eddie Hernandez dreams of training his lizard to star in movies and begins work on a new movie set. But nefarious dog-nappers steal the movie's canine star, and the crew must quickly find a replacement.When stray dog Beethoven is 'adopted' by Eddie's son and wins the movie's dog auditions, Eddie gets an opportunity to train non-pro dog Beethoven. Although the camera, Eddie's family, and the film crew fall in love with the big-hearted, wet-nosed dog, Eddie tries to keep the relationship strictly professional.
But Beethoven's larger-than-life personality and a cast of adorable puppies have other ideas and soon, Beethoven crashes his way into Hollywood and Eddie's heart.
