Ian Douglas: Episodic in the extreme, with an overly romanticised view of life and Africa. It probably worked okay as a novel, especially if tailored for an American audience, but fails to convince those of us in Africa... It may appeal more to women. Life stories normally do not make good movies. On the plus side, the scenery is great.
