Roger Ebert quote iconThe movie contains less of its interesting story and more action and battle scenes than I would have preferred.

eye Weekly
Kieran Grant quote iconThey should’ve tried Astro Boy out as a live-action fantasy. It might’ve at least led to a more interesting — or funnier — failure.

ScreenIt
C. Fuchs quote iconWhile not up there in the same league of computer animated visuals as the Pixar films (or in terms of the story and characters for that matter), the visual design is strikingly handsome and pays some respectful homage to Tezuka's original artwork and design.

Tomatometer quote icon While it isn't terribly original, and it seems to have a political agenda that may rankle some viewers, Astro Boy boasts enough visual thrills to please its target demographic.
