Killer Joe

Murder never tasted so good.

Killer Joe
When a young man finds himself in debt to a drug lord, he hires a hit man to knock off his mother, hoping to collect on her life insurance. The cop he hires to do the job wants payment up front, which is not going to happen. Instead, they agree on using his younger, virgin sister as collateral until payment can be made. The contract killer and his hostage develop an unusual bond, which ultimately leads to complications. Note that this film was re-cut in the USA to move from NC-17 to R, and features (if that is the correct word) numerous violent and sexual scenes.

Sara Maria Vizcarrondo quote iconFor extreme tastes, I think the greater pleasure is watching these names rise from their undeserved ashes, but most people will come to Killer Joe for the comic violence, fearless white trash lambasting and legendary hijinks involving a fried chicken drumstick.
Chicago Sunday Times
Roger Ebert quote iconAs a film, it's something else. The audience laughed at the right places, applauded at the end and walked out talking about how disgusting it was.
Rolling Stone
Peter Travers quote iconThat intensity, violent and sexual, may have prudes bolting for the exits as Joe mixes it up with trailer trash.
